Orville and Wilbur Wright made the first flight on December 17th of 1903, nine months previously they had filed for an application for a "flying machine". On that december morning the make shift flying contraption reached a height of 10 feet, traveled a distance of 120 feet and landed roughly 12 seconds after its glorious take off.
By 1908 the brothers had developed their flying machine enough to get the attention of the government, then United states army struck a deal with the brothers for rights to the plane. |
