The World Wide Web

The world wide web

The world wide web or web as it is better known is a collection of documents, images, sound and video files spread out globally and accessed over the Internet in a very quick and simple way.

Most of the documents found on the web are linked to other documents and so forth. The inventors of the web had hoped that all documents would be linked together, the size of the web now makes that a very difficult task.

The documents that are found on the World Wide Web are known as hypertext documents. In a hypertext document, you can click on selected words and images that will take you to other documents. These click able pieces of text and images are known as hyperlinks. These links are what make the web what it is, a quick and easy way to jump from one document to another. Moving images and full interactive web experiences, movie clips and music files known as MP3's are now all available on the web for anyone to view and enjoy.
